Deyan Stoev - Wedding Photographer
To let me into one of your most cherished days, take a peek into my world first.
Photography has been a part of my life long before I found my calling as a wedding photographer – since childhood, when I first stumbled into a photographer’s darkroom. A year later, I got my first camera – a “Smyana 8”. Over the years, other hobbies and interests may have passed fleetingly through my life – but photography has remained. In my childhood perceptions, playing with and manifesting light was the most wonderful magic – real and tangible – in which I found beauty… and still find it today.
HISTORY
How it all started
Even though I have specialized in wedding photography, for which I am happy to travel to different cities in Bulgaria, I like to experiment in different genres. Portrait, boudoir, family, my studio is also available for family and holiday sessions while street photography is a real passion of mine. What I have in common is that I look for the human presence in each of my images – even if it’s minimal – because I love the fact that we are colorful, different and unique – and I believe that each person is a small universe. That’s one of the reasons I started teaching photography in 2012, and in 2014, together with colleagues and friends, we created PhotoSchool in the city of Varna – an extraordinary network that today covers the whole country and includes wonderful photographers and colleagues.
But my greatest love – that is wedding photography. I photographed my first wedding almost as a joke in 2006, while I was on a student brigade in Maryland, USA. After returning to Bulgaria I worked for one of the biggest photo studios at the time in Varna, where I had the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the craft, and since 2011 I have been freelancing as a professional wedding photographer in Varna, the Black Sea region, and all over Bulgaria.
The most important thing I’ve learned over the years is that for successful wedding photos, it’s not just about having the perfect camera and lenses, or even being able to not miss the most important moments. It’s also not being on the lookout for all the curious and interesting happenings that unfold aside the newlyweds. The most important thing is to predispose the couple and help them relax so that they trust you to capture one of the most outstanding days of their lives. And for me, there’s no greater satisfaction than the positive emotions the newlyweds feel when I hand over their finished and processed images.
Whether you only want a shoot on the wedding day, or are also interested in a pre or post wedding session – the photos will last a lifetime. It’s incredibly important to trust an experienced wedding photographer who will not only be able to handle their equipment perfectly, but also know the theory behind colour and composition. He or she will weave your emotions into your wedding photos – because this is your, one and only, love story.
I’m eternally grateful for all the encounters with the wonderful couples I’ve captured so far, and I wish my professional journey will bring me many more unforgettable people and moments.
